"No man puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst,
and the wine pours out, and the wineskins are ruined.
But they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."

"Meeting Publicly and from House to House" - Acts 20:20

Can you tell me something about who you are?

Absolutely!

Let's start with some of the basics.

The Church Without Walls is a cell-based church located in Gastonia, North Carolina,
made up of people just like you!

Now, I know that you are probably wondering just what is a cell-based church?

And that's a good question.

In fact, some of you may not have ever heard of a cell church before.  So, let me give you a few resource links that you may find quite helpful in answering some of your questions about
The Church Without Walls.

In fact, you may find it helpful to browse the following links to get a better "feel" for what
The Church Without Walls is really all about.

Now, with these informative links at your disposal, let's move on to something a bit deeper.

An Underground Church

The Church Without Walls is like an underground church--  underground in the sense that it resembles a tree.  Huh?   Let me elaborate.

An underground church is like a tree:  its trunk, branches and leaves (the visible part) are only about half of the picture.  The unnoticed half, the underground root system, nourishes the whole tree and keeps it healthy.

Thus, the Church Without Walls is like an underground church.

This underground church consists of believers gathered together through a structure of small cell groups meeting in homes to pray, evangelize and build relationships with one another. In this way, each and every believer is made an active and vital part of the body of Christ.

When every believer is nourished and healthy, the whole church is strong.  Just as water and nutrients feed the tree by climbing up through the root system, so the church is also nourished and strengthened by what happens in the underground (the unseen) realm of church life--  believers involved in home cell groups (or ICUs).  Therefore, we believe that meeting together in homes and experiencing relationships in cell group life is just as important as meeting together (visible) each week in a larger gathering to worship and to receive teaching from the Word of God.

Our Calling From the Lord

Our calling from our Lord is the following:

  • To exalt Jesus Christ as Lord, obey His Word, and encourage and equip each believer for the work of ministry.

  • We are called to build the church from house to house, city to city, and nation to nation through small groups.

  • This "underground church" is built through prayer, reaching the lost, and making disciples.

  • Our mission includes reaching adults, youth and children for Christ.

  • We are also called to church planting, proclaiming the gospel through any avenue the Lord provides, and building unity in the body of Christ.

  • As a spiritual army, we will cooperate with any church that Jesus is building throughout the world in fulfilling the Great Commission.

Does this help you get to know us a little better?  I certainly hope so.

Let me give you one final answer to a question you are probably asking.

Just how are you going to fulfill your calling from God?

That answer, is found in The Master's Plan.

The Master's Plan

By the grace of God we will accomplish our mission by:

  • Strengthening our faith through daily meditations of the Word of God and by developing an intimate relationship with Jesus.

  • Committing ourselves to other believers in a small group (cell) setting.

  • Praying to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into the harvest fields:  locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Encouraging every believer to be involved in prayer, reaching the lost, and making disciples.

  • Helping each believer to learn to serve and discover the gifts and calling within his life.

  • Teaching the Word of God with power and authority in a way that is practical and applicable to everyday life.

  • Training and equipping leadership in home cell groups and congregations to minister to others and to plant new churches.

  • Planting and multiplying home cell groups and congregations locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Sending laborers into the harvest field:  house to house, city to city and nation to nation.

  • Mobilizing and challenging adults, youth and children to be radically committed laborers for the harvest.

  • Encouraging each child, young person and adult to be a true worshipper of our Lord.

  • Exemplifying a life-style of mutual accountability, integrity and purity in every level of leadership and throughout every area of church life.

  • Supporting and encouraging the spiritual leaders that the Lord raises up among us.

  • Edifying one another daily through encouragement and by speaking the truth in love.

  • Celebrating Jesus as we come together in various locations to worship together, pray together and receive the Word of God together.

  • Caring for, loving, healing and restoring those who are wounded and need deliverance, healing and restoration.

  • Ministering to the poor and needy.

  • Promoting unity by supporting, networking together and laboring with other churches and ministries locally, nationally and internationally.

  • Partnering with believers within the Church Without Walls family of churches to reach the world together for Christ.
